She told police that he may have fled to Los Angeles. Ponce-Lara told police that her husband left their home with his 9 mm Glock pistol and that, based on his statements, feared he was suicidal. She said Edwin did not tell her where he hid Sawyer’s body, but she said she found some of her belongings inside a shed on the couple’s Redmond property, including a purse, clothing and shoes. Ponce-Lara told police that her husband told her Sawyer walked in front of his car in the dark and that he panicked after hitting her and disposed of her body. Sawyer lived near the college but wasn't a student there.
